Pretty much. I grew up with my mom producing maple syrup as sugar syrup plus maple extract, that's what I'm used to eating, and it's cheap and doesn't require I remember to have it in the fridge. But I had some leftover last time, which I really should have reheated on the stove, apparently. (And/or actually kept an eye on the sugar I was trying to boil.)
