I maybe had a breakthrough!

jadislefeuI was on a plane and bored and I have Scrivener on my phone, so I was thinking about things jamethiel and havocthecat said about plotting, and I decided to try outlining on one of my fics (specifically a stalled pine-y Severus/Regulus thing) and instead of frustratedly going 'what is a plot and how do they happen' or 'what Bad Things should happen to characters', I focused on 'I like when characters have perceived or actual betrayals of trust and are sad about it', so I picked around at ways to make the two idiots stop talking to each other and pine tragically, and I think it worked and I have 2500 words of outline (that has a lot of chunks of prose and dialog in it). And that basically resulted in a plot by accident. (Actually I think there's even a B plot somehow.)
I have no idea if I can reproduce this, but I am quite pleased!
