YULETIDE!

SO! I did Yuletide for the first time this year! Author reveals just happened (or will have happened by the time I post this, they haven’t yet while I’m writing this, OOO SPOOOKY TIME TRAVEL OOO) so I can finally link the things I wrote in public.

I wrote seven things (totaling 12,761 words) on this, my first Yuletide! In order of when I finished and uploaded them:

1. My first/main assignment: Honeyed Afternoon, an Ever After High fic, 5,480 words. I had the worst time coming up with a plot for this but I got help from mesonyx in Yulechat and I like the idea I ended up with! Apple gets shoved along the line of a possible evolution of character (I am being deliberately vague about the main plot point, the title is supposed to be all double meaning-y and appear to mean one thing when you first look at it but actually mean something else when you finish but I have no idea if I succeeded), with help from Raven, Maddie, Cerise, and the voice of her father through the Mirrornet.


2. The treat I started before signups were even closed, Always keep your head, for the Wendy Trilogy song cycle (all three songs are on this album freely available to listen to them), 2,013 words. I was bitten by plotbunnies as soon as I read their letter and it is tragic and angsty and I’m really happy with it. Sue comes to Neverland, Sue loves Jill, and Wendy leaves her behind. (OH MY GOD THE PERSON I GAVE THIS TO ALSO WROTE THE WENDY TRILOGY TREAT I GOT)


3. Another treat, Between Ghoulfriends, in Monster High, 2,534 words. I read this letter and the prompt was so cute and the person was so excited about it I decided I had to treat them to a gift for it. It was really hard to write, kissing is hard >_< But I think I’m happy with how it came out. Clawdeen and Draculaura practicing kissing; Clawdeen is secretly unrequitedly in love with Draculaura. (I’m so thrilled with how happy this recip was with the fic.) (AHAHA OMG THE RECIP WAS ALSO THE AUTHOR ASSIGNED TO WRITE FOR ME WHO WROTE ME THIS BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM FIC)


4. The pinch hit I grabbed, And she ne’er looked home again, also for the Wendy Trilogy, 1,911 words. I saw a letter with Wendy Trilogy in it go out on pinch hits and I had to snag it because I had so much fun writing for Wendy Trilogy the first time. Sue finding her way in Neverland, and around Jill.


5. Madness treat, Triumph, for Sleeping Beauty and Tam Lin, 100 word drabble. The prompt was so neat I wanted to do *something* for it. Maleficent is the same as the fairy queen in Tam Lin.


6. Madness treat, All That Glitters, for Ever After High again, another 100 word drabble. Just to spread around the EAH love. Maddie and Raven and Apple looking at the stars.


7. Madness treat, im hrd hbu?, for Venture Bros, 326 words. Almost didn’t write it, wasn’t sure I could get the canon tone down in text, but Alex encouraged me and it’s tied with Triumph for most popular thing I wrote for Yuletide. Shore Leave texting Al while out on a mission and Brock hassling him about it. With, uh, gratuitous canon-typical violence. (I’m so glad I wrote this, one of the recips said they were in the emergency room for the second time in two days and having a horrible day and getting this brightened it when they really needed something to.)

(The word totals probably won't add up properly because I copied the ones for individual fics from AO3 but the overall is from ywriter5 where I wrote them and AO3 counts words a little differently.)
