I made a hilarious tactical error

I was trying to lazy boil and re-dissolve crystallized fake maple syrup (which is to say sugar syrup that I put maple extract in) and it... did not work out. (I'm pretty sure all the yellow stuff is aeresolized maple extract.) I really should have kept an eye on that but I was distracted by eating pancakes.

It was nbd to clean up, we just ran the hot tap on the tray/platter/wev until it all dissolved back off, but oh man. NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT DO THAT.

I am guessing you did not want to bother going to the store to buy actual maple syrup and had the rest of the stuff around already?

Pretty much. I grew up with my mom producing maple syrup as sugar syrup plus maple extract, that's what I'm used to eating, and it's cheap and doesn't require I remember to have it in the fridge. But I had some leftover last time, which I really should have reheated on the stove, apparently. (And/or actually kept an eye on the sugar I was trying to boil.)

I mean, whatever makes you happy taste-wise is the important thing, I was just trying to figure out why you'd done it, because I prefer maple syrup, so I was curious why you preferred something different is all. :) Thanks!
